Penang is one of the most developed states in Malaysia. As such, it stands to reason that there are numerous developed areas in Penang. Here are the Top Five Developed Areas in Penang.


Tanjong

Tanjong is a federal constituency found in the Northeast Penang Island District of Penang, Malaysia. It has been represented in the Dewan Rakyat since 1959.


Tanjong is a developed area that holds many attractions for both visitors and locals alike. It is home to major malls, the most prominent being Penang’s famous 1st Avenue Mall which is hosting many well-known brand outlets and other entertainment attractions.


Along with this is the Komtar area, which has the tallest skyscraper in the state, and the eleventh-tallest building in Malaysia, the KOMTAR Tower. Other more mundane attractions include the major mall outlet Tesco, or as it is known now, Lotus’s.


Major fast-food outlets are also located in the area, with McDonald’s and KFC being the most availably found. Major mart outlet 7-Eleven can be found in the area as well.


Bukit Gelugor

Bukit Gelugor is a federal constituency located in the Northeast Penang Island District of Penang, Malaysia. It has been represented in the Dewan Rakyat since 2004.


It is a developed area that is home to major malls. One of the major malls found in this area is Udini Square, which features major sporting goods chains as their main attraction.


Another major mall located in the area is an outlet of Lotus’s, which is another major mall chain outlet. Other attractions in this area are the major outlets that can be found within.


This includes multiple major fast-food outlets McDonald’s, KFC, and Subway. Furthermore, the area also features major mart outlets such as Family Mart and 7-Eleven.


Bayan Baru

Bayan Baru is a federal constituency located in the Northeast Penang Island District and Southwest Penang Island District of Penang, Malaysia. It has been represented in the Dewan Rakyat since 1986.


The developed area is home to major malls, which include Sunshine Square, a mall that includes a supermarket, department store, food court, and other such amenities. Major fast-food retail outlets are also available, with McDonald’s and KFC being readily found.


From these two categories, there is a notable absence of the major malls, Tesco and Aeon, in the area along with major fast food outlet Burger King. Furthermore, major mart outlet 7-Eleven can be located in the area.


Bukit Bendera

Bukit Bendera is a federal constituency located in the Northeast Penang Island District of Penang, Malaysia. It has been represented in the Dewan Rakyat since 1974.


The largest attraction in the area is Bukit Bendera, also known in English as Penang Hill. It is a hill resort that comprises a group of peaks located on Penang Island in Malaysia and serves as a popular tourist attraction today.


It is located within the Air Itam suburb, which is nine kilometers west of the center of George Town and can be accessed using the Penang Hill Railway from its base station at Hill Railway Station Road. To date, this funicular railway system is the only one of its kind in Malaysia, transporting over a million visitors to the peak of Penang Hill.


Batu Kawan

Batu Kawan is a federal constituency located in the South Seberang Perai District and Central Seberang Perai District of Penang, Malaysia. It has been represented in the Dewan Rakyat since 2004.


Batu Kawan is a developed area that is home to major mall outlets such as Aeon. Major fast-food outlets are also located here, including McDonald’s, KFC, and Subway.


Located in the area are also major mart outlets, Family Mart and 7-Eleven. Alongside these, found here is also major clothing retail outlet, Uniqlo.
